Main Pointers Included This is a part of the ORIGINAL AUSTRIAN ALPINE ADVENTURE I started with back in 2010 Recommended Hike in Innsbruck if you arrive a day or two early destination peak Hafelekar at 2334m or just to Seegrube if weather is optimal - Innsbrucks house mountain and part of the Karwendel Mountain Range. From Hungerburg, hike to Seegrube, cable to Haflekar, take the cable car down to Seegrube, then descend via Hottinger Alm for a beverage and snack...before you go back to the Funicular. 8km/1100 ↑/ 1100m descent / 5 hours The Meet Up! Day 1 12:00 - Meet up in Innsbruck at Weisses Kreuz Hotel in the Old Town (you can stay there the night before) late in the day on the 22nd…Transfer to Rietz (my home town). Settle in Guesthouse Thaler and enjoy our welcome hike Rauthutte /Mountain Yoga and DINNER. Cacao Ceremony + Uncle Gunthers Power Schnapps at Guesthouse Thaler Meet up. 6km / 450m ↑/ 450 ↓ The Adventure Begins .... Day 2 - 30min Mountain Yoga before Breakfast Tschirgant Peak - The Pyramid in the sky..After breakfast we travel to Karrosten, the start of our climb to Tschirgant Peak, 2370m - This is the House Mountain of Imst. It draws you in with its striking Pyramid shape (from a lot of angles). A challenging and rewarding climb. Back to Thalers - Yoga Stretch at Karrie's 14km/ 1370m ↑ 1370↓/ 6 hours Day 3 - To Peter Anich Hut - 2 night Stay Hike to the Peter Anich Hut above Rietz sitting at 1905m- this is my home training land - the Home Mountain - Rietzer Griesskogel. After we fuel and do a walk around the grounds..we settle in for our High Altitude Yoga and lets get Earthed Ceremony. Optional hike to Rauköpf 1200m ↑/ 300↓8km - total trip 3 hours, Day 4 Anger Lake + Skinny Dip Pure Mountain Yoga Grieskogel It is an early rise today to start our trek to the Grieskogel Summit (my personal fave) at 2884m, the highest mountain in the Northern Sellrain Mountains..which is part of the Stubai Alps. Incredible views await us on the top..as well as a much needed Jause (snack in Austrian Dialect). We descend en route to our private lake at 2200m Anger Lake which we enjoy as long as we want before our 40 min descent back to the Hut. 10km, 950m ↑ascent/ 950 ↓ 4 -5 hours Day 5 - The one and only STUBAI VALLEY 30min Mountain Yoga to start our day Descent back into Rietz Transfer to Grawa Waterfalls for our Kick Off to Sulzenau Hut. One of the most stunning areas of the Stubai Valley, we hike alongside the Grawa Waterall ..over a fabulous plateau where the Sulzenau Alm lies. We continue past the Alm up the winding trail to Sulzenau Hut, our place for the night. We drop off our stuff then continue on to the Grunau Glacier Lake for a crazy and super refreshing afternoon DIP! Mountain Yoga with K on our return to the hut prior to dinner. 7km/ 849 ↑ / 250↓ 3+ hours + 2 hours morning descent Day 6 - To Dresdner Hut and Stubai Glacier Start off with early morning MOUNTAIN HIKERS Yoga pre breakfast for the early risers. This next stage goes over Alpine Terrain to one of my Faves spots - Nukshuk City - Beiljoch (2672m)- an incredible collection of Nukshuks built over the years ..what an energy here! From here we descend to the Dresdner Hut - The biggest hut on the circuit..and home to the Stubai Glacier. Morning Hike 500m↑5km 2.5 - 3 hours to the Dresdner Hut Afternoon Excursion - Top of Tirol Option: Hike to Eisgrat - then cable car to top - Extra 600m + 6km Option: to take cable car all the way to Top of Tirol Mountain Celebration at the Dresdner Hut!!! Day 7 - After a gorgeous alpine breakfast at 2300m we descend back into the valley Transfer to Rietz in Tirol (K’s Home Village) or to Innsbruck 6 Night / 6 day TOTAL Metres 5200+m↑/ TOTAL KM: 60km |
TOP DAY HIKES + 3 Days STUBAI HIGH TRAIL
Trip info and Pointers * Huts with bunks * 2 Days will be in Guest house * Travel Medical Insurance is a must * Please bring hiking poles..as the days go on I believe we will need them * Please bring Electrolyte drinks and energy snacks - although you can pack a bagged some snacks from breakfast table * Hikes will take place between 9 and 4pm daily * The plan set here may be altered even more due to weather or other circumstance The Stubai High Trail is one of Austria ́s most beautiful high altitude hikes. With a total length of 120 km and 8000 meters difference in altitude the Stubai High Trail makes high demands on the walkers. Surefootedness, a good walking condition, no fear of heights and suitable equipment are essential to explore the mountains of the Stubai valley on their best. The Stubai High Trail can be undertaken in either direction. The route starts or ends at Innsbrucker hut or Starkenburger Hut. The hike can be interrupted at any hut. Every base offers the opportunity to descend to the valley and alternatively you have the possibility to ascend to each hut from the valley. For this reason stages of the Stubai High Trail can also be planned individually or just for an elongated weekend. The total round tour requires 8 days. The huts along the trail serve as basis and provide overnight stay, such as culinary delights of the region and of course information for the next stage. For those wanting to book the Stubai High Trail Experience privately This is an advanced hiking experience for those with sure footed ness, hiking experience And a really good fitness level See Below Can be booked 1 on 1 or create your own group ‘TIROLEAN STUBAI HIGH’ ITINERARY - 7 Day/7 Night Tour (including 2 half days) The is an advanced Tour, for fit individuals with previous experience in high alpine terrain Day 1 )- MEET INNSBRUCK OLD TOWN at GOLDENES DACHL 10am Recommended to arrive Innsbruck one day earlier - Possible Overnight at Weisses Kreuz Hotel in the heart of the OLD TOWN - can tour around Innsbruck. Meet in Innsbruck and Travel to RIETZ (my home town 25min away) for a Welcome Party and a Hike up to the Peter Anich Hut sitting at 1900m above.....then we retire for the night and get our Mountain Climbing Power sleep! 3 hr Hike, 1150m Day 2 - To Rietzer Grieskogel 2889m - Sitting 900m above our Hut is the Grieskogel Peak...one of my most favourite and frequented peaks. It is always my GO TO climb...never get tired of this one, but sometimes tired on it...ha ha. After a well earned lunch on the top..we descend into Kuhtai on the other side of the mountain. Perhaps a short Mountain Yoga session on a Dream spot before we head back down into Innsbruck. Dinner in Innsbruck. ⬆ 900m ⬇ 1000m - 5 hours Travel to Stubai Valley and to the infamous FARMHOUSE in Fulpmes Day 3- FARMHOUSE TO STARKENBERGER HUT (2237) Early to rise...for a hike up to Galtalm for a Mountain High Breakfast... to FUEL up! Onwards and upwards to our 1st Hut on the circuit - STARKENBERGER HUT approx 1200m climb - 3.5 hour Afternoon option to one of the STUBAI 7 Summits - Hoher Burgstall - on 2600m Dinner, Breakfast Day 4 - 440 Hm 530 Hm - STARKENBERGER TO FRANZ SENN HUT (2147m) To the FRANZ SENN HUT we go! A long hike today but not high metres climbed. An incredible scenic hike with a rolling feel the first couple hours. We arrive at the high energy high alpine Franz Senn..with plenty of time to unwind. Dinner, Breakfast Day 5 FRANZ SENN HUT TO NEU REGENSBERGER HUT (2286m) With those wanting to click off the 7 Summits - RinnenSpitze just above the hut...sitting at 3000 We do an early morning trek (850m 3 hours up and down) to this peak to some of the most incredible views. Lunch will be had at Franz Senn. 650Hm 500HmtonextHut After lunch it is onward to our next Hut, Neue Regensberger Hut...waterfalls and a glacier lake awaits (if weather permits) to dive into. Dinner, Breakfast Day 6 - NEU REGENSBERGER HUT TO DRESDNER HUT (2302m) ( and TOP OF TIROL) 900Hm⬆︎ 850Hm descent A long and more technically challenging stage of our Tour this is. Our last section takes us first through Wilde Grube and up a steep section with fixed ropes before we make our way down to our infamous Ski HUT Dresdner..and home of TOP OF TIROL Dinner, Breakfast OPTION to travel down into valley for rest day and YOGA among the Grawa Waterfalls. Day 7 - DRESDNER HUT to SULZENAU HUT (2191m) to NURNBERGER HUT (2297m) Part 1 400Hm⬆︎500Hm descent Part2 650Hm⬆︎. 550Hm descent Morning trip to the TOP OF TIROL...weather permitting Then it is a 3 hour hike to the Sulzenau Hut - en route we stop in the Green Lake for a refreshing Glacier DIP (skinny if some want it) - Lunch at Sulzenau PART 2 - Hike to Nurnberger (one of my personal FAVE’s) with LEO and FAM welcoming us with some of the best Hut food around! Enjoy a tasty well deserved BEER OR TWO on this stunning high alpine terrace.... 7-8 hour day DAY 8 - Descend into the Valley (90 min) to be picked up and transferred back to Innsbruck. Here you can enjoy a final walk around tour with Karrie and of course a CELEBRATION ESPRESSO before you move on to the next portion of your trip! Almost 7000m and 90- 100km accomplished!!!!!!! INCLUDED - - - - * Accommodation is 1 night Guesthouse/Hotel and 6 nights Huts - Single Comfortable Bunks in mixed room - (sleep sack needed in some Huts) is the option of travelling further south in Italy.
